Fingers Pointing at Me

“When you point one finger, there are three fingers pointing back at you". People often think of this saying as an acknowledgement of self-blame. OK – taking responsibility is important. Let’s look beyond self-blame for a moment with self-compassion.

How do other people treat you? How is the world treating you?

What are you saying of others or the world when you point that finger outward?

Consider that each of the fingers pointing back at you is asking you a question, for example:

“How do I treat myself?”

“Do I respect and nurture myself?”

“Are others treating me the way I treat myself?”

“Do I really listen to myself?”

Do you?

“What is my attitude to this world?”

Is that what you’re experiencing? Is that what the world’s reflecting back at you?
